SharePoint Integration

Is SharePoint really the best solution for web content management?

Microsoft SharePoint is increasingly dominating the decision making process of CIO’s analysing the market place for suitable Enterprise Content Management (ECM) solutions. As far back as 2008, Microsoft reported more than $1 billion USD in SharePoint sales and more than 100 million users, and even if these numbers are inflated, the product's impact on the market isn't.

While SharePoint can effectively provide collaborative and document management functionality, so far it has not proven to be an efficient solution for delivering an organisation’s web CMS requirements. Sharepoint is optimised for use on Microsoft Internet Explorer but most estimates show more than half the world uses other browsers.

Now, at face value, there is a perceived overlap in functionality between SharePoint and web CMS. However, Squiz believes the two can work together in relative harmony to improve the management of your organisation’s content. Integrating SharePoint with a CMS solution will provide the best option to meet both the ECM and collaborative requirements. Using SharePoint as a common interface and collaborative environment but integrating that with the best of breed CMS capability of Squiz Matrix leverages your investment in both systems.

The Squiz developed SharePoint Bridge module allows you to configure pre-determined SharePoint searches and list the results in your website using the Saved Search asset. Also included is the E-forms asset that saves form entries directly to a custom list in your SharePoint system.
