Features Bazaar

mysource matrix international user conference 2009

Features Bazaar

Squiz is excited to announce that on Tuesday 27th October Squiz will host a fun and innovative event designed to seek users’ input on Squiz funded feature development.

Squiz is a professional services firm that provides support for MySource Matrix. As an open source product, these professional services include new feature development – indeed this is how MySource has been built. While most features are funded through client projects, Squiz also invests some of its own resources into feature development.

Squiz have committed to funding $100,000 worth of new feature development for MySource Matrix. The MySource Matrix Feature Bazaar will allow you to “buy” fantastic new features using the Squiz money issued in your conference packs.

Each conference delegate has been issued with $Squiz 1,000 (located in your conference pack) and a list of features available for sale at the Bazaar. A quick scan of the features for sale will tell you that $100,000 is not nearly enough to buy all the features. Managing this compromise is the role of the MySource Matrix Feature Bazaar!

01

Display the Total Number of Remaps

On the Details screen of the Remap Manager, all of the remaps that have been created in MySource Matrix appear in the Remapped URLs section, as shown in the figure below. This feature will show the total number of remaps that are in this list. If you filter the list, this option will show the total number of remaps that match the criteria that you have entered.

Display the Total Number of Remaps

02

Export the Remapped URLs to a CVS File

This feature will allow you to export the list of the current remaps in MySource Matrix to a CVS file. This option will be available from the Remap Manager.

03

New Formats for the Date Keyword Replacements

When you use a date keyword replacement (i.e. created date, updated date and published date), there are a number of different formats that you can choose from. For example, you can choose yyyy-mm-dd, dd m yyyy h:mm[am pm], dd m yyyy or h:mm[am pm]. This means that the date and time will appear something similar to Feb 26 3:30pm.

This feature will add additional formats that will allow you to display this information based on the time period that has passed since that date. For example, it will display Today, at 3:30pm rather than Feb 26 3:30pm. Other examples include, 2 days ago, 1 week ago, 1 month ago, 1 year ago.

04

Changing the Status from Up For Review to Archived

When the Status of an asset is set to Up For Review, the only Statuses that are available are Apply For Approval and Safe Edit. If a user wants to Archive the asset at this point, they either need to make the asset Live again through the approval process or change the Status to Safe Edit and then cancel Safe Edit.

This feature will allow the user to change the Status from Up For Review to Archived.

05

Stopping a User from re-subscribing to an Email List

When a user subscribes to an email list via a Bulkmail Subscription page, MySource Matrix will try to subscribe the user and will send the verification email even if they have already been subscribed to the email list. When the user clicks on the hyperlink in the email, they are taken back to a blank subscription page, which prompts them to try again.

This feature will instead send an email to the user informing them that they have already been subscribed to the email list instead of the verification email.

06

Specify which position to start the Asset Listing at

When you create an Asset Listing, this feature will allow you to specify which position in the list to start at. For example, if you enter 11, the list will start from position 11.

07

Buttons in the Asset Map to Resize Text

The only way to increase and decrease the size of the text in the Asset Map is to use the keyboard shortcuts. This feature will add buttons onto the Asset Map so that you can do this without having to know the shortcuts.

08

Option to Display all Assets on one Page for an A-Z Listing

When you create an Asset Listing using the A-Z listing format, the assets are automatically grouped by the first character they start with and are only shown when the user clicks the letter in the list. For example, the figure shown below shows an A-Z listing where the user is viewing the assets that starts with M. If the user clicks C, all of the assets that start with C will be shown.

This feature will allow you to show all of the assets on one page, with headings for each letter in the list. When a user clicks a letter in the list of characters (for example C), it will automatically jump to that letter on the page.

Add a Delete Option onto the Roles Screen

09

Ability to compress JavaScript files

This feature will allow you to compress any JavaScript files in your system and remove any unnecessary white space. This will help increase the performance of your site, as these files will be faster to download.

10

Dynamically changing the Nested Asset

When you create a nested content design area or a nest content division, you can only select one asset to nest, as shown in the figure below.

This feature will allow you to dynamically change the nested asset through the use of a GET parameter in the URL. This is similar to an Asset Listing where you can dynamically change the root node of the listing.

Add a Delete Option onto the Roles Screen

11

Differentiate between automatic and custom remaps

On the Details screen of the Remap Manager, the remaps that have been created by the system and the remaps that have been created by a user appear together in one list. There is no indication as to which remaps are which.

This feature will allow you to differentiate between the two types of remaps so that you can easily identify which remaps are which. This will mean, for example, that when you delete a remap, you know whether or not a user rather than the system created it.

12

Obscuring your SharePoint System from Users

The SharePoint Bridge currently allows a user to list documents from a SharePoint server using the built in SharePoint web services. When the web service call returns documents from SharePoint, it returns the URL of the document in the SharePoint system.

This feature will allow the SharePoint saved search to download documents to the web server so that they can be served from there rather than from the SharePoint URL.

13

Stopping Users from Creating a Hyperlink to Non-Live Assets

This feature will add a new user preference that will allow you to stop users creating a hyperlink from a Live asset to a non-live asset. For example, if your “Home” page is Live, you will not be able to create a hyperlink on this page to an asset that is Under Construction, for example an MS Word Document. The word document needs to be Live before you can create the hyperlink. Assets that are Under Construction, however, will still be able to hyperlink to assets that are Live.

14

Changing the Link Type when creating a new Asset

When you create an asset in MySource Matrix, it is automatically created as a TYPE_1 linked asset. To then change it to a TYPE_2 link, you need to go to the Linking screen of the asset.

This feature will allow you to change the type of link that is used when you are creating the asset. For example, if you want to create a TYPE_2 linked PDF file under your web site, instead of creating the PDF file and then changing the link type, you will be able to change the link type when you create the file.

15

New “Related Asset” Metadata field type to allow dynamic relationship using asset id

This feature will allow you to add a metadata field were a user can select a related asset. Through the use of keyword replacements, you will then be able to dynamically retrieve attributes from this related asset. For example, if the keyword replacement was , it will return the URL of the asset that has been selected in the related asset field. You can then use this keyword replacement within the content of the page, for example.

16

Search and Replace WYSIWYG Editor Plugin

This feature will add a WYSIWYG Editor plugin that will allow users to search and replace text that is found in the division. For example, a user will be able to search for the word Squiz in a WYSIWYG Editor and replace it with Squiz Labs. A preference will also be available to allow you to turn off this plugin for certain users.

17

Option to Use Ajax requests for a Remote Content page

This feature will allow you to set up a Remote Content page so that it will not refresh when a user views the page. Instead, any new content that may have been added to the external page will be fetched via an Ajax request and the content of the page will be updated.

18

Specify Dynamic Input Types in DB Data Source

When using the Dynamic Inputs screen of a DB Data Source, if you have specified a default value, MySource Matrix assumes this value is a string and wraps the value in single quotes when it generates the SQL to send to the external data source.

This feature will add additional options to the Dynamic Inputs screen so that you can specify what the data type should be. MySource Matrix will then cast it correctly before quoting the value.

19

Adding New Words to the Spell Checker

Currently, when you use the spell checker within MySource Matrix you cannot add any new words to the dictionary.

This feature will allow users to add new words to the spell checker. A preference will also be available to allow you to turn off this plugin for certain users.
