Squiz wins SunWater CMS contract

Leading Australian web solutions provider Squiz has signed a contract with Queensland’s SunWater to supply consulting, design and implementation services centred around Squiz developed and supported open source Content Management System (CMS), MySource Matrix. Squiz will redevelop the existing www.sunwater.com.au website to support and enhance the SunWater corporate image.

The project focus is to promote SunWater’s brand which embodies the promise of service between SunWater and its customers and stakeholders; forging a relationship and building expectations between SunWater and these groups. SunWater’s corporate image comprises its brand, values, attributes and other factors including organisational history, culture and the experiences that customers have with staff. The new site will clearly identify and promote those factors as well as improve constituent service.

Mike Minter, SunWater ICT Manager, said that the Squiz solution was selected on the basis of Squiz’s experience in successfully delivering web solutions for similar organisations including Power and Water Corporation, Ergon Energy, Save Water Target155, and Water4Life. The supported open source model under which Squiz deploys web solutions was also a factor by providing SunWater with a commercially acceptable financial proposal with inherent risk mitigation.

Supported open source solutions are rapidly achieving pride of place in enterprise deployments with independent validation of capability and security being provided by respected global analysts such as Gartner. This trend is concurrent with other topical IT moves into Software as a Service (SaaS) and cloud computing whereby the solution capability and management is provided from an external source and delivered generally via the Internet “cloud”. In SunWater’s case they have chosen to install the software on their own servers and manage the solution internally with Squiz providing back-up application support and maintenance.

This win follows recently announced Squiz contracts with Cairns Regional Council and the Queensland Department of Justice and Attorney General (JAG), signalling continuing growth for Squiz in the state. John-Paul Syriatowicz, Squiz Managing Director, is pleased with the success coming out of the Squiz Brisbane office and is committed to continued investment to support growth in Queensland.
